Well seeing that I have not updated my journal since February (and well, the damn thing was getting unpleasant to look at), I'm taking the liberty of talking about my day at Anime Expo, followed by an update...and I'll try to keep it brief considering it's 3am PST and I'm effing tired >_<

I gotta say, for my first ever convention I really enjoyed it. Four of my friends besides myself made the two hour trek Friday morning to Los Angeles and walked around the Exhibition Hall after registering. It was there where I was punched...err...kinda, by a cosplaying Rorschach. The moment was captured on camera so I can post it for Nicole's amusement, lol
After walking around, more pictures w/cosplayers and other monotneity (such as searching for low priced merchandise to no avail), we left for lunch. We ended up eating at this nice Japanese restaurant in a Little Tokyo shopping mall...and I ate like there was no tomorrow. After that we returned to the Convention Center and wandered around some more, watched some anime, then attended these AMV awards thing. We saw AMV's people submitted to AX and voted on the best ones by category. By the time all was said and done, it was midnight and the Con center was closing for the night, so we packed up and headed home.

In terms of art, I have several things I really need to finish ( I have a good ten Deviations in the works that I have stared...but like most everything else that I begin are not complete. If you don't believe me, ask 2Q, she's seen me at work and knows my lazy tendencies...

Bare with me, like I stated in a recent deviation, I plan to post my ass off this summer XDDD

On a quick side note, if any of you recall my anti-art block streak back in January that came to a grinding halt in February...well it didn't get any better after that. In March I began the Spring quarter at the university and decided to take three classes that I thought would be relatively passable, not too easy and not too hard. Well all was well until the beginning of May, the same week I had mid-terms, I also began working at my new job. on top of all thins I got the flu and because I commute half an hour every day to school, was forced to stay home for several days to recover my health. It took me over two weeks to get better, and considering all three classes were equal in difficulty, I found it impossible to catch up on everything I missed. Long story short I failed one class and have to retake another...just wanted to throw out one of the reasons I kinda fell off the face of the earth for several weeks...hehe

anyway, I'm going to bed, so goodnight and all that jazz...

Rant time! Yaaaayyyyy...-_-;;;

Today I got pretty close to death...yup true story. For those who detest bad words I suggest you simply ignore this rant and scroll down to the end, considering there's a fair amount of them in here. I'll put a simpler, kid-friendly version at the end of this.

While I was driving to school this morning, y'know, I was minding my own business. For those you you who may be familiar with Bakersfield, I was going north on HWY 99, and I had just passed the White Ln. interchange. I'm traveling along the middle lane, going 60mph, minding my own business, when I notice this big truck barreling down from White Lane at what I believe to have been 70-75 mph. Now it seemed the guy driving this truck was planning on merging into the other lanes...and I see nothing wrong with that...do you? Driving lesson time! When you are going to merge, what do you do...? Don't worry, there's no rush, I'll wait...da dum da dum da dum...got anything...? Bingo!!! you signal and take a look to make sure the lane is free of immediate traffic! Now I know you're all smart people so I'll just save it and assume you know that this dumbass in the big truck did neither of the things your supposed to do. Correctimundo! he didn't...but what's worse is that he didn't care to tate a gander that there was a car in his way, so I all of a sudden go from enjoying the music on the radio to swerving onto the left lane not knowing if there's a car in my way just so the asshole in the truck won't crash into me!!!

Needless to say, I was very lucky and didn't crash into anyone or anything...but then we open up the question...who the fuck allows idiots like this drive around endangering the lives of people who have no fault of their own!? Seriously, I spent about the following twenty minutes driving, the time it took me to get to school, ranting and venting about the stupidity of people. I'm not talking about rocket science, I'm talking about common sense! This is the reason I question ever giving people the benefit of the doubt...then I remember that most people...or most people I know and meet, do have common sense, and it's that minority of assholes who drive me insane...

Now for those who don't like my potty mouth, this is pretty much me explaining how some idiot nearly crashed into me on the highway because he merged when he definitely wasn't supposed to, and how stupid people can be...

Now I'm also treating this as an update, so let me begin by saying...sorry I'm grown back into holding out on art...AGAIN!!! I've actually been working on another project...which actually looks like I'll be able to finish...yay

The only reason I've stopped from my January high is because February brought with it the wonderful world of Mid-terms!!! ugh! >_<

Not only that, but I've had to work out things with my job and family that have been eating at my last few weekends...so no breaks...

This project also will push my gallery to deviation numero cien!!! Yes, one-hundred! I will draw something to commemorate this auspicious event...exactly what I don't know...so don't hold your breath...

I'm just posting to update, but as I already hinted, let me say a few things about the bloodless transition of power that occurred in Washington, D.C. last Tuesday. Even though I'm tired from school, I'm pretty happy right now. I like Obama as our new president, and so far, he's done some good things (most prominently, the order to close the prison at Guantanamo Bay). I'm not completely 100% dependent on the idea that Obama will pull out a magic wand and fix everything. You can't expect a man, no matter how great, to bring prosperity and peace of mind all at once. On that same note I'm confident Obama is capable of leading this nation out of the darkness Bush II and his cronies lead us into.

Anyway, enough politics, lemme get back to dA here and talk about art! As most of you can see, I've been trying to make up for 3 months of not posting anything. I hope you guys enjoy the pics I have up so far...and I have several thing on that way as well...just hope I don't lose this sudden urge to not drag my ass on uploading things

Oh, and one more tidbit. As some of you guys already know, I have a new job! I'm an Operations Assistant at the Recreation Center at my college. By the way, Operations Assistant is basically a janitor, but I really enjoy the job, it has some neat perks and most importantly, I'm getting paid, and I speak for most of us when saying that in these times we shouldn't be so picky with what job we get. I can't wait till I get my first check so I can actually have spending money to do things!!!

I turned 19 today...and I must say things turned out a hell of a lot better than my 18th birthday

Today was...well it wasn't fantastic beyond belief...but it was nice, I got a free haircut and a bunch of my friends wishing me the best. I DID get one of the things I really wanted...a digital camara (well technically, it was for me AND my siblings, but my mother "forcibly" had me open the gift )

Tomorrow my parents are throwing me a party type thing, family and friends, so I'm really looking forward to it

I'm well aware that I haven't posted something in a looong time. Good news is I have several things to show you guys...bad news is they're all WIPs, so you're all gonna have to hang tight a little longer. I still plan to do a pic for christmas like I did last year (as well as something for Nikki cuz she did domething for me, thanks Nikki! :3 )
